“THE  BASKETBALL  COACHES’  COMPLETE  GUIDE  TO  ZONE  OFFENSES”

This book is as thorough as it gets in attacking zones. Everything from the primary break, secondary break, entries, and continuity, to out of bounds and principles to attack a zone is included. The chapter on concepts and philosophy will help every coach take stock of his zone attack.

“THE  BASKETBALL  COACHES’  COMPLETE  GUIDE  TO  FOOTWORK,  BALANCE  and  PIVOTING”

The basis of all basketball fundamentals is the necessary footwork needed to carry them out. It is the foundation fundamental. John Kimble has focused on footwork and provides coaches at all levels with a comprehensive approach to this essential skill in this book. A footwork approach should be in every coaches arsenal. I highly recommend his foundation book as a detailed complete concepts book that is useful for all coaches.”

“COACHING  BASKETBALL’S  MULTIPLE  2-1-2  FULL  COURT  ZONE  PRESS”

John is an excellent student of the game and has the ability to communicate his ideas in a thorough manner.  He has great understanding of the 2-1-2 press and explains it in detail. “THE  BASKETBALL  COACHES’  COMPLETE  GUIDE  to  the  MULTIPLE  MATCH-UP  ZONE  DEFENSE”

Coach Kimble does a great job assimilating different defensive concepts into one package.  It is a comprehensive and creative approach to a playing the matchup zone that allows the defense to give different looks that frustrate their opponents and disrupts their offensive flow.  I picked up some ideas that I plan on putting into my system.  We have toyed with the 1-1-3 matchup zone and Coach Kimble has given me some fresh approaches to make it more effective.

Mark Edwards— Head Basketball Coach—Washington University—St. Louis, MO

“COACHING  BASKETBALL’S  ‘SPEED GAME’ “

Coach Kimble has developed a multiple but yet simplified offensive scheme for transition offenses that coaches at any level could use.  Well-written and  easily understood, Coaching Basketball’s “Speed Game” With Primary and Secondary Fastbreaks is an excellent book that gives great insight into secondary fastbreak attacks.

Tom Richardson—Assistant Basketball Coach—Vanderbilt University

ABOUT  PRIVATE  PLAYER  INSTRUCTION and TRAINING  SESSIONS”

Over the last two summers my son has worked with Coach Kimble learning basketball skills and fundamentals. Working with Coach Kimble has tremendously improved my son’s shot release, dribbling skills, and defensive skills. The discipline and knowledge provided by Coach Kimble has not only improved my son’s skills, but has additionally helped shape him as an athlete.

I have known Coach Kimble as a coach and a mentor.  He coached my sons AAU team to a 6th place finish in the US in an AAU National Tournaments and he also spent countless hours teaching fundamentals to him in a one on one setting and a small group setting.  Coach Kimble teaches not only the game of basketball, he teaches the small things that you don’t even think about that are needed to be successful on the court.  His knowledge is invaluable.  Not only is he a great coach, he cares about the kids he comes in contact with.  He teaches them about becoming young men and women which is way more important than any game.

“TESTIMONIES  FROM  COACHES  ABOUT  CONSULTING”

As a Middle School Basketball Coach it is my goal to teach my players the skills they need to excel in the sport. Over the past year Coach Kimble has helped me with the task of improving the boy’s fundamentals and overall basketball skills. In addition to helping the boys, he has provided me with coaching tips and our team has taken a 4-0 start for the basketball season.  I would recommend Coach Kimble to any parent, player, or coach to assist in building skills for the sport of basketball.

“Coach Kimble is one of those guys I sit down with and evaluate our weaknesses and strengths.  He has been a big help in my development as a coach for 32 years.  His ability to break the game down and train to improve certain skills has added a needed dimension for our teams through his consultation.”

I have known John Kimble for nearly 40 years and during that time he has helped me many times with many different basketball topics including post play and footwork, match-up zone defense, man to man defense, zone offense and press offense.  Specifically, he helped me with the 2008-10 basketball teams at Olympia High School, which won 3 regional championships and 2 Elite 8 appearances and an overall 68-28 records.  All of those teams used a zone offense that Coach Kimble gave me and helped me install.  From 2005-07, I coached an AAU team–the Kessel Heat out of Libertyville, IL.  These teams had an overall record of 98 – 21, placing very high in several national tourneys, including the Final 8 in 2007.  Both our zone offense and press offense came from Coach Kimble.  In fact, our AAU parents regarded him so highly that they flew him in from Florida to help me in for a USSAA  National Tournament at the Spiece in Ft. Wayne, Indiana.   Coach Kimble is without question one of the finest basketball minds I have known in 40 years of coaching.  He would be a huge asset for a young coach just getting started or a veteran looking to tweak or improve a system already in use.  He is truly one of the great coaches I’ve ever coached with or against.

“TESTIMONIES  FROM  COACHES

ABOUT  CAMPS  DIRECTED  by  COACH  KIMBLE”

Coach Kimble ran a week-long camp for us in June. The whole team attended….JV and Varsity. The players and coaches got so much out of this camp that it is hard to believe that it was only 5 days. From the little techniques of ball handling, shooting, passing, etc, the players learned what it will take for them to be good players individually as well as better teammates. As coaches, we learned many drills that we will use this summer and into the seasons ahead. Coach Kimble was very well liked by the players and the coaches and I know we will use him again in the future!

I had the pleasure of working with Coach Kimble at our basketball camps this June. Even though I have been coaching at various levels for 33 years, I was inspired by Coach’s enthusiasm for and dedication to the game. He was more than willing to share his knowledge and to talk basketball long after the camp was over for the day. I have worked numerous camps during my career, but I can say this was the first camp I worked where a camper didn’t ask when we were going to play. It’s a testimony to Coach’s ability to relate to our youth and teach the game he loves at the same time.

As a former player, current coach and parent, I couldn’t have been more pleased with the camp that Coach Kimble did for my girls. The time he spent instructing the players and preparing them for the upcoming season was invaluable. You can see the passion that Coach Kimble has for the game in the way he prepares, teaches, and encourages during his camps. Our girls learned so much during the time he was here.”

Coach Kimble did an excellent job in the week-long camp he did for our team. The kids had a great time and the coaching staff learned a lot from Coach Kimble. We can’t wait to have him back again next year!

To have the opportunity to have Coach Kimble consult, teach or coach a player or team would enhance any player or organization. I have witnessed personally the development of players through the tutelage of Coach Kimble. The basis of any sound basketball player starts with fundamentals. Coach is a master of building the blocks from the ground up instilling the basic fundamentals that benefit even the seasoned players. I cannot emphasize the importance Coach places on the basics that are often overlooked in every day drills. All drills have basic fundamentals built in that incorporate itself in everything done on the court. One builds upon the other and through repetition become second nature.

Schematically, I’ve yet to find a coach that can install a base offense (both zone and man) and add tweaks that kids can execute flawlessly. The installation is easy to understand and implement. Lastly, the matchup zone that Coach Kimble teaches is, to me, the best defense a team can run. His command of the principles of the matchup are beyond belief. Every conceivable detail is covered in his book. A true genius of the matchup zone defense. It was truly a pleasure and honor to witness the genius of Coach Kimble on a basketball court. I was blessed with knowledge he so willingly shared that I didn’t know existed.
